Classes

In my 6+ years of teaching Korean online, I’ve found that different students have different needs. So far I’ve been able to keep my class size small (usually one or two students) so I can adjust the focus and pace as necessary. I can work with your schedule and choose a time to meet.
I use my own materials and provide reviews and practice assignments. For the high school level courses I do use a textbook series and supplement it with my own materials.

Class are one hour (except for the ages 7-11 class) and meet twice a week, on either Monday and Thursday or Tuesday and Friday.

These are the classes that I have available:

Korean for Beginners — Ages 7-11

In this class geared toward younger children, we will focus on simple vocabulary and learning to read and write the Korean alphabet (hangul), and introduce some basic grammar. Animals, foods, and colors are common topics.

50 minutes, twice a week, $95 per month

Korean for Beginners — Ages 12 and up

Learn the Korean alphabet (hangul), along with basic vocabulary and grammar. We will practice the four language-related skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing, and will also cover some Korean culture and history. I will be giving students material to review and practice between classes, so a high level of interest and self-motivation will be helpful.

1 hour, twice a week, $110 per month

Continuing Korean (years 2-3-4)

We will continue learning grammar and vocabulary, while incorporating native material to increase listening and speaking fluency. I will provide review materials and there will be regular homework assignments.

1 hour, twice a week, $110 per month

Korean Year 1 for High School

Based on the textbook Korean From Zero! (book 1). This is an intensive, faster-paced course with a syllabus that can be submitted for approval in states that require it for high school credit. The book begins with hangul (the Korean alphabet) and includes fifteen chapters that cover numbers, basic introductions, family terms, present, past and future tense verbs, subject, object, and topic particles, an introduction to politeness levels, and several other grammar forms that provide a basis for simple conversation in Korean.

1 hour, twice a week, $110 per month

Korean Year 2 for High School

Based on the textbook Korean From Zero! (book 2). This course also includes a syllabus that can be submitted for approval, depending on your state’s requirements. The book has seventeen chapters that include more advanced grammar forms and conversational sentence endings, and additional vocabulary. Students will increase fluency and practice using what they know to make their own sentences.

1 hour, twice a week, $110 per month

Korean Year 3 for High School

Based on the textbook Korean From Zero! (book 3). This book continues with more advanced grammar and additional vocabulary. I do not have the syllabus prepared for this one yet so I’d need some advance notice.
